Configuring Folder Template Options

When a user opens the Create Folder or Manage Folders dialog, Milan compares the metadata values of the selected workspace or folder to specified in the template filters to those of the workspace being edited and displays only the templates from the . If Milan finds a filter that matches the metadata, the templates that belong to that template filter are presented to the user. The type of metadata used for filtering is configurable with the following two options:

Note: While you must select a profile field for each of the above options, template filters only require a value for the primary metadata filter.

Folders

The following options allow greater control over which templates are displayed to users in the Create Folder and Manage Folders dialogs.

Always display default template	Templates belonging to the default template filter are always displayed.	Templates belonging to the default template filter are only displayed when no other matching template filter exists.
Show All Templates	All templates with a mode that does not restrict template usage at the level of the selected item are displayed.	Templates are displayed based on template filter, folder template, and global configuration settings.
Include All similar templates for First Level	All templates belonging to template filters that have a primary filter metadata value that matches the selected item's profile field are displayed.	Only templates belonging to template filters with primary and secondary metadata filter values that match the selected item's profile fields are displayed.
Include All similar templates for Second Level and below	All templates belonging to template filters that can be used at the second (subfolder) level and have a primary filter metadata value that matches the selected item's profile field are displayed when creating on-demand folders at the second level or below.	Only templates that belong to template filters with primary and secondary metadata filter values that match the selected item's profile fields are displayed when creating on-demand folders at the second level or below.

Workspaces

The following options determine which templates are available in the Workspace Template drop-down menu in the Create Workspace Wizard.

Note: Only templates with a mode of either All or Workspace Creation Only can be displayed in the Workspace Template drop-down menu.

Always display default template	All templates in the default template filter.
Show All Templates	All templates in filters other than default.

If neither option is enabled, the Workspace Template drop-down menu will display all templates under the default filter that have a mode of Workspace Creation Only.

Users creating legacy folders, i.e. ones that do not belong to a workspace, can be presented with one of the following two dialogs.

Personal Folder dialog	Identical to the Create Folder dialog.
Manage Folders dialog	See Manage Folder Dialog.

The options on this tab control whether users can specify a custom name for folders at a specific folder level. By default, only folders at the first level cannot be given custom names by users.

The following options, when set to Yes, allow users to create on demand folders at a given folder level.

The following options allow you to enable the Folder Security slider in the Create Folder and Edit Folder dialogs at a specific folder level.

Option	Description
Support for personal folder	Enables support for personal folders/workspaces in on demand folder dialogs.
Personal workspace or folder	A drop-down menu of metadata that can be used to identify personal workspaces and folders. If the values for the field are numeric, select the Range option below; otherwise, an identifying string should be specified in Contains.
Range	A range of numeric values, corresponding to the metadata field specified above, that are used exclusively for personal folders/workspaces.
Contains	A string of text that can be used to identify personal folders and workspaces. As the name implies, the text can be present anywhere within the value of the metadata field specified above.
