Client-Side Customization

The default behavior of the Milan client commands can be modified by adding one or more string values to the appropriate registry key.

Registry Values

URLs

The following values specify the addresses of servers to which the client command may need to connect.

Value	Points To
baseURL	The client pages (baseURL) on the Milan server (e.g., http://milandemo/milan/clientpages).
altbaseurl	The client pages on the Milan server when accessed by an external user (e.g., http://milandemo/milan/clientpages).
<servername>_baseURL	The client pages of a Milan server to be used with the DMS server specified in <servername>. When this key exists for specific DMS server, any command issued from a library attached to that server will redirect to this URL instead of the default base URL.
<servername>_<dbname>_baseURL	The client pages of a Milan server to be used with the DMS server and library specified in <servername> and <dbname>, respectively. If this key exists for a specific server/library pair, it will take precedence over <servername>_baseURL and baseURL.
baseZoneURL	The Zone web server. This key is only required when using Zone.
baseUmbriaURL	The Umbria web server. This key is only required when using Umbria.
baseSharepointURL	The SharePoint web server.
workspaceUrl	Used with Umbria, path to the web server hosting the web pages for the workspace det

Optional Settings

The following settings can be enabled by adding the value in the appropriate Docstree\iAdminSite key and setting the data to 1.

AdvancedMatterTeam	Advanced Matter Team functions are available in the Matter Team dialog, which can be opened by right-clicking on a workspace and selecting Milan → Matter Team/Exclusions.
AllowDisableAuthorOperator	Milan will automatically create metadata and enable disabled users in a target database for move operations that involve two databases.
allowDocumentPermanentDelete	Users who have the Documents: Permanently Delete permission can use the Permanently Delete This Version command in the Milan menu.
AllowMoveForPublicDoc	Users can move public documents. By default, users can only move documents to which they have full access.
AttemptDeleteFromClient	Delete Folder operations are attempted through the local WorkSite client with the current user's credentials rather than through Milan.
DisableSecuritySlider	The security slider for Create/Edit commands on all workspaces and folders is disabled.
recyclePrompt	Users are prompted with a confirmation dialog after using the "Add to Recycle Bin" command.
recycleShortcutPref	Using the "Add to Recycle Bin" command on a document shortcut results in both the shortcut and the target document being moved to the recycle bin; by default, only the shortcut is moved to the recycle bin.
useSimpleFolderDialog	The Simple Create Folder dialog is displayed instead of the standard Create Folder dialog at the second level and below.

Other Customization Options

TempPath

A path to a folder for storing temporary files when the user imports documents or runs the Revert To Previous Version command. If this value does not exist in the registry, Milan uses the default path.

TabCommands

Disables folder commands for any project (folder/tab/workspace) with a name containing the specified prefix. While this setting applies to all projects, it is only intended for use with tabs

searchfolderfilterByParentName

Disables folder commands for any project (folder/tab/workspace) with a parent that has a name containing the specified text. While this setting applies to all projects, it is intended primarily for use with search folders.

PersonalFolderCriteria

Specifies workstation specific criteria for the Personal Folder Creation dialog. Criteria must in the format AttributeID^value for static values and AttributeID^Value1^Value2 for ranges.

SimpleFolderDialogCriteria

Specifies workstation specific criteria for the Simple Folder Creation dialog. Criteria must in the format AttributeID^value for static values and AttributeID^Value1^Value2 for ranges.

MenuTextFolderHelp

Replaces the label for the "What's this folder for?" help command with the specified text.

language

Specifies which language resource file to use when displaying the Milan commands; the data for this value must be a valid language code.

ProductName

Replaces "Milan" in the dialog title bars with the specified text.

HideStandardCreateFolderAtLevel

Disables the Create Folder command at a specific folder level.
