About Security Center

Security Center is a lightweight tool for managing who can view and modify workspaces in WorkSite.

With Security Center you can:

Confidentiality

Controlling access to workspaces and documents starts with specifying a confidentiality level for a matter. If users generally have access to all workspaces, you can use the default confidentiality level of Firm, which is equivalent to WorkSite's Public security setting. However, if your organization prefers to grant access to workspaces on a need to know basis, Security Center's Groups and Matter Team options are more appropriate.

Group Management

Matters set to use Groups confidentiality are shared as Private in WorkSite and can only be accessed by users who are members of specific WorkSite groups. Once an existing group has been granted access to a matter, you can manage its members directly through Security Center.

Matter Teams

Similar to Groups, Matter Team confidentiality locks down a workspace in WorkSite as Private. However, instead of using an existing group to grant users access, Milan creates a new group specifically for the selected matter. When a user is added to the team, Milan adds her to this special WorkSite group, thereby granting her access to the workspace. Additionally, team members can be granted a Manage Team right that allows them to modify the team via the Matter Team dialog, which is accessible from WorkSite clients, as well as a Create Folder right for creating on demand folders.

Exclusions

Users can be denied access to specific matters or all of a client's matters by adding them to matter or clients exclusions.

Self-Service

Users can be allowed to request access to matters and documents via Admin Self-Service.
