Profitability Calculation Tab

Setting Description

Base Salary Rate Divisor

(Umbria Module)

Divisor (value total salary amount is divided by) for the base salary calculation. Can be Billable Hours, Entered Hours, or Collected Hours.

Default Overhead Type

(Umbria Module)

This is the default level used when figuring overhead (non-salary) costs into profit calculations. Options include Firm, Office, and Practice Group.

For Profitability Module - Check the box for Reconcile before Allocation to use unallocated payroll amount for calculation. Uncheck the box to use allocated payroll amount for calculation.

Hourly Cost Calculation Option

You can calculate hourly cost on basis of month or year. Options include Monthly and Yearly.

Profitability Report By

(Profitability Module)

You can generate Profitability Reports by Posted Time or Work Date.

Transaction Allocation Level

(Profitability Module)

You can allocate transactions by grouping them by month or year. Options include Group by Month and Group by Year.

Transaction Processing Criteria

(Profitability Module)

Select the criteria to select the transaction processing time. Options include Posted Time and Transaction Time.

Effective Date Applicable Option

(Profitability Module)

Select the transaction allocation effective date. Options include Effective Complete Current Month and Effective From Next Month.

Month To Be Subtracted

(For Fiscal Year/ For Compensation Year

Profitability supports both Calendar and Fiscal years. If calendar and fiscal years are different, you can set them here. If fiscal year starts from February, set months to be subtracted to 11 months (e.g. Dec – 11 = Feb).

Default Admin Offices

(Profitability Module)

Some offices are a cost center (no revenue generated but supports other offices). These offices do not receive overhead expenses, and expenses recorded in these offices are allocated as overhead to other offices. You can select such cost center offices here, from the drop-down.

Default Excluded Allocation Offices

(Profitability Module)

From the drop down, select the Allocation offices to be excluded from allocation expenses.

Default Excluded Allocation Departments

(Profitability Module)

From the drop down, select the Allocation departments to be excluded from allocation expenses.

Margin Levels

(Umbria Module)

Minimum margin percentages for a matter that will result in three levels of color coding. For example, if you entered 0 for Danger, 15 for Warning, and 25 for Success, any matter with a margin percentage below 15% would be color coded red, and any with a margin percentage at least 15% but below 25% would be color coded yellow.

Realization Levels

(Umbria Module)

Maximum realization percentages for a matter that will result in three levels of color coding. For example, if you entered 80 for Danger, 90 for Warning, and 100 for Success, any matter with a realization percentage 80% or below would be color coded red, and any with a realization percentage above 80% but below 90% would be color coded yellow.
FeeEarnerClassSalaryAccount Mapping This provides the facility to the user to switch account while importing salary based on their FeeEarnerClass. For e.g.: Account ID : 24 Fee Earner Class ID: 4, enter as 24|4. The salary for that fee earner class ID will be allocated to the account ID entered here.
