Report Settings

Section Description
Performance Report Options
  • Show Assumptions section below phase name- Display the Assumption field below the name of the phase.
  • Show create budget message when no budget exists- When the matter has no budget, show a create new budget message on the performance report with a redirect link to the budget wizard.
  • Monitor Budget- You can choose the default revenue report for Monitor Budget type. Selection made here will reflect in Matter Performance Page.
  • Amount Budget- You can choose the default revenue report for Monitor Budget type. Selection made here will reflect in Matter Performance Page.
  • Hour Budget-You can choose the default revenue report for Hour Budget type. Selection made here will reflect in Matter Performance Page.
  • Max number of time keepers- Maximum number of timekeepers that should be represented on donut graphs in the Person and Hours tabs in Matter Performance. Leave blank if there should not be a maximum set.
  • Minimum share % for resource to be displayed- Minimum percentage of the total hours that a timekeeper must account for to be included in the graph on the Hours tab in Matter Performance. Leave blank if there should not be a minimum.
  • Show 'Others' as a resource- Select if any additional timekeepers excluded from the Person or Hours tab graphs based on the two settings above should be grouped into an "Others" graph section.
  • Show "Worked" kpi section- Show realization, margin, and leverage KPIs based on hours entered on the Matter Performance KPI panel.
  • Show weighted average days (instead of average days): Check this box to calculate Time Entry to Invoice on weighted average days.
  • Check box to display the column(s) in the Matter Budget Search page:
    • Show Arrangement Fees (As Total Budget) 
    • Show Estimated Effort (As Total Budget)
    • Show Net Budget (As Total Budget)
  • Budget Remaining Formula: Determine formula to calculate the remaining budget amount on the Matter Monitor and the Matter Budget search page. Options available are:
    • Budget Amount Subtract Billable Amount
    • Net Budget Amount Subtract Billable Amount
    • Arrangement Fee Subtract Billable Amount
  • Period Filter Start/End Date: Select Month Date to set the date picker on the Matter Monitor page>Period filter (Set Start-End Date). Select Exact Date to replace the date picker and allow option to enter date. This option is only available on the Matter Monitor page.
  • Order by option: You can set sort order for display of the time keeper names on the Matter Monitor page. Options available are Alphabetical or Billable Fees Descending or Fee Earner Type .
  • Null Value Display Text : Enter text to be displayed in case of null values.
Revenue Report Options
  • Show Time Entries on Graph- Include the Value of Time at Matter Rate line in the Revenue Margin line graph.
  • Show Cost of service on Graph- Include the Cost of Service line in the Revenue Margin line graph.
  • Invoices Filter- Determine whether the Unpaid invoices tab or the All invoices tab shows by default on the Revenue screen in Matter Performance.
Performance Search Defaults
  • Basis of Accounting- Determine whether to default to Accrual Basis, Cash Basis, or Time Entry Basis logic when pulling in data based on a specified timeframe. Accrual basis pulls in information based on what was billed during the specified timeframe. Time entry basis pulls in information on hours that were worked during the specified timeframe. Cash basis filters all activity (time entry, billing, and collection) independently based on the specified timeframe.
  • Default Period- Choose the timeframe that should default when viewing reports.
  • Default Period End- Determine whether by default the reports include data from This Month or cut off data at Last Month (the last completed month).
  • Fiscal Year Start Month- Select the start month to determine start of the Fiscal year.
  • Compensation Year Start Month- Select the start month to determine start of the Compensation year.
Revenue /Performance Report Options

The Collected Realization Denominator/Collected Margin Revenue sets the denominator of the collected realization calculation for the accrual report. The denominator is set to the value at firm standard rate, which can be calculated in different ways. There are three options available currently:

  • Billed Value at Firm Standard Rate – Using billed hours times the firm standard rate.
  • Collected Value at Firm Standard Rate – Using the paid hours (collected) times the firm standard rate.
  • Worked Value at Firm Standard Rate - Using the hours entered (worked) times the firm standard rate.
Profitability Options

Select options to calculate the Billable Hours . Available options are:

  • Worked Hours
  • Worked Hours -Non Billable Hours
  • Worked Hours - (Non Billable Hours - Write Down Hours)
Matter Level Performance Report Options

Billed Margin / Realization Hours Factor-

Billed Factor- Select this option to use Billed Factor to calculate Billed Margin and Billed Realization.

Billing Period Factor- Select this option to include WIP transactions to calculate Billed Margin and Billed Realization.

Variance Report Defaults

Set target performance for matters to compare against actuals, for

Billed Amount threshold- Total billed to the client for matter

Realization Variance threshold %-Billed Realization minus Agreed Realization percentage for matter

Realization threshold %-Agreed-upon realization percentage for matter.

Rate Variance threshold-Effective Rate minus Agreed Rate for matter

Agreed Rate threshold-Agreed-upon rate for this matter.

Target Realization Defaults Select Show Target Realization Indicator if, where applicable, a visual indicator of the difference between the billed realization and the target realization for a matter should be shown.
Budget/Performance Report Options Select Enable Client Paid Expenses if vendor invoices that are to be paid by the client rather than the firm should display on budget and performance reports.
Update time statistics command defaults

Here you can opt to, Skip phase code ID and task code ID resolution, meaning time entries with no phase/task codes assigned will not automatically be assigned to phases based on phase dates when updating time statistics, 

or Skip Calculating WIP Values: Check this box to exclude calculating Worked hours as WIP values when the Billed Hours, Write Down Hours, and the Non Billed hours are entered as zero or null. The imported values will be updated in the TimeMonth table without calculating WIP values

Skip Standard Rate Related Values: update time statistics will skip calculating standard rate imported from SSIS import.

Partner Dashboard Defaults For the Time Entry Filter Date, select Worked Date (date the hours were reported as having been worked) or Posted Date (date the time entries were posted to the accounting system from time and billing).
Vendor Invoices Defaults Select Vendor Invoices Defaults if you want warnings to be displayed on Matter Performance Reports- Expense tab for non phase coded invoices.
Report Warnings Default Check box to show warnings on missing rate card, missing time-entries and missing salary records on Matter Performance Page.
Rate Card Report

Set the Rate Card View Mode for Matter Rate Card page. Available options are:

Compare to Hierarchy- Calculate discount as compared to the base rate card.

Compare to Firm Standard- Calculate discount as compared to the Firm Standard Rate.

Compare to Client- Calculate discount as compared to the client rate card.

Write-Down/Up Format Options

Set the display format options for Write-Down and Write-Up amount on the UI.

Display Negative/Positive for Write-Down/UP:

  • Down Negative, Up Positive: Select to display the Write Down amount as Negative and Write Up amount as Positive.
  • Down Positive, Up Negative: Select to display the Write Down amount as Positive and Write Up amount as Negative.

Use Color Coding: Check this box to apply color styling when the number is positive or negative. If you check this box, further options are displayed to select color options to set for positive and negative numbers. Options include:

  • Positive Options: Black, Green, Red, or Custom Hex (enter the desired custom color code)
  • Negative Options: Black, Green, Red, or Custom Hex (enter the desired custom color code)

Text Styling: Select the option from the drop-down. Options available are:

  • None (use only color coding)
  • Brackets for Negative - enclose negative number in brackets. e.g. [$,15.187]
  • Parenthesis for Negative - enclose negative number in parenthesis. e.g. ($15,187)
  • Braces for Negative - enclose negative number in braces. e.g. {$15.187}
  • Hyphen for Negative - apply hyphen sign before the number to show as negative. e.g. -$15,187
