Once a budget (pricing) model is created, you can apply changes to it.
Access the Budget tab by selecting matter → Planning → Budget tab.

Edit a phase(s) that exists within a budget. If phase includes tasks, you will be able to edit tasks in either the Spreadsheet View or Detail View. |
Add Phase |
Add a phase to a budget. For instructions, refer to Adding a Phase below. |

Delete the selected phase from the budget. Make sure you select the phase you wish to delete to enable the Delete option. |
Add Budget Team | Add resources to a budget team. This option is available only if the budget mode selected involves assigning personnel. For instructions, refer to Adding a Budget Team below. |
Add Procedures | Add procedures to a budget. (enabled only if the selected Budget type is Procedure). Refer to Add Procedures below. |
Reassign Resources | Preview how budget totals would change if one or more resources were reassigned, and optionally apply the reassignments to the budget. |
Export Budget | Exports the selected model's data to a template. |
Adjust Phase Amounts | Adjust the total amount of a budget and/or how the amount is distributed across multiple phases. |
Recalculate | Recalculate budget based on changes implemented. |
Edit in Wizard | Open the Create Budget wizard, an alternative way the make edits to the budget. |
Spend & Payment Planning | Enables the periodic distribution of a budget—fees or effort— on a monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis throughout the life of a matter. |
Forecast Planning | Enables you to view the current and projected spending and revenue for the matter, allowing you to anticipate and plan for future expenses. |
Convert Amount to Hours Budget | Enables you to convert the budget type from Amount to Hours. (enabled only if the selected budget type is Amount). Refer to Hours Budget below. |

Exports the selected model's data to a template. There are two options available Export to Excel or Export to Word or PowerPoint.
Note: The Deal Description Type drop-down option is only available for users with the license for Generate Proposal feature.

Click the Edit in Wizard button on the Budget tab. The Create Budget wizard opens. Steps vary based on the selected budget mode.
Spend Planning enables the periodic distribution of a budget—fees or effort— on a monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis throughout the life of a matter. The feature allows the revision of initial budgets, the planning of finances and resources years into the future, the planning of incoming revenue, and the creation of yearly budgets.
Note: The Spend & Payment Planning option is only available for users with the license for Forecast or Experience.
For example, $100,000 fees over a 10 month projected matter can be distributed over the 10 months, as appropriate. Additionally, for revenue planning, a spend plan for July in the amount of $12,000 with payment terms of 28 days will record the receipt of payment in August.
In the Spend & Payment Plan tab, you can manually enter the anticipated expenses, fees, and planned collection per matter phase for a whole year. This tab includes the sections below:

Budgeted Expenses (Spend) | Enter the anticipated expenses for each month on the grid. |

Planned Payment | Enter the anticipated payment/collection against the total budgeted spend for each month on the grid. |
Click Save.
The Analysis tab provides a different visual representation of the figures shown on the Spend & Payment plan tab in the form of a bar chart. .
Tip: Hover your cursor over a bar in the bar graph to see the data represented.
Additional information appears on the Analysis tab. The Actual Fees and Actual Expenses are displayed on the bar chart. This data is pulled from the TimeMonth table. The Spend Fees, Spend Expenses, and Payment values are picked from the Spend & Payment tab.
In the lower left corner of the screen, a progress bar indicates the Actual % achieved as against the estimated values for Spend and Payment.
In the Setting(s) tab, the following options are available:

The matter must have a budget and a phase associated to it.
The Forecast Planning option is only available for users with license for Forecast or Experience.

Create Forecast |
Click the button to create a forecast for the matter. Click Yes to copy the values from the Matter Spend & Payment Plan . This button is only available when creating a forecast plan for the first time. |

Budgeted Fees (Spend) | This amount is populated from the Spend & Payment planning screen. |
Forecast Fees | Enter the forecasted fees for each month on the grid. |
Actual Fees | The total Billed Fees for the month. |

Click Save.

To convert Budget Mode from Amount to Hours:
Click the Edit option on the Budget tab.
Click the Convert Amount to Hours Budget button on the Budget tab.
The Budget mode is now changed to Hours
