Installing the Milan Client and Standalone Applications
The Milan client installer, which can be downloaded from the Prosperoware support site, contains Milan's Desktop Commands (i.e. context-sensitive menu items for DeskSite/FileSite), Smart Workspace, Umbria Documents, Desktop Import/Export, Excel Add-In, Milan Footer, and NRL Handler. As of Milan 3.3, Consolidator is no longer included in the client installer and requires a separate download, which is also available from the support site.
Requirements
- All Milan client applications require that .NET Framework 4.5 or later be installed before installation.
- FileSite/DeskSite 8.5 SP1 or later must be installed in order to use DeskSite/FileSite Integration or Excel Add-In.
- Milan Footer requires Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), which is an optional Office component.
- Smart Workspace is only supported in DeskSite/FileSite 9.0 Update 5 or later.
-
Milan 3.9 SP2 now supports Edge as a browser option for Milan Client. Milan Client uses embedded browser when used from DeskSite or Filesite. The default browser is Internet explorer. The Edge support is optional and comes with a separate installer. The default Milan 3.9 SP2 client installer continues to work with Internet Explorer. Milan 3.9 and above clients also continue to work with 3.9 SP2 Server.
-
WebView2 Runtime is required if you are upgrading your web browser to Microsoft Edge. We strongly recommend using the .EXE Milan installer for installation of Commands as it will perform the WebView2 Runtime installation. If you choose the .MSI Milan installer, download and install WebView2 Runtime here WebView2 is the name of the runtime framework for Microsoft Edge Browser when used as an embedded browser.
- The following application-specific requirements are installed as needed by the installer and do not need to be manually installed prior to setup.
- VSTO Runtime 2010 (required by Excel Add-In)
- SQL Server 2012 System CLR Types (required by Consolidator)
Note: Desktop Import/Export and Consolidator do not require access to a Milan server.
